ITINERARIES
DAY 1
(Arrival Sandakan/ Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre/ Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre/ Kinabatangan River/ Evening Cruise/ Overnight Bal)
Meet and greet upon arrival at Sandakan Airport/Hotel and proceed transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, where you will have the extraordinary opportunity to witness one of nature’s most endangered species, the Orangutans, swing gracefully from branch to branch as they make their way towards the feeding station in the forest. The excursion includes a visit to the Outdoor Nursery, providing an up-close encounter with the morning feeding of Orangutans within their natural habitat. Immerse yourself in a scheduled 25-minute video program at the Nature Education Centre, delving into the world of the Orang Utan. An additional highlight is a visit to the Exhibition Hall, enriching your understanding of these remarkable beings. Lunch enroute at a local restaurant.
Post-lunch, embark on a scenic 2-hour overland journey to Bilit, Kinabatangan River. This river area is renowned for its rich biodiversity, hosting an impressive array of primates including Proboscis Monkeys, Langurs, Macaques, Orangutans, Slow Lorises, Western Tarsiers, and a captivating ensemble of avian wonders such as 8 species of Hornbills like the Rhinoceros Hornbill, Pied Hornbill, Black Hornbill, and the remarkable Helmeted Hornbill. The ecosystem also shelters Kingfishers, Bulbuls, Trogons, Flycatchers, Sunbirds, Broadbills, Herons, Mangrove Snakes, Vipers, Estuarine Crocodiles, Asian Elephants, and an abundance of other captivating wildlife. Upon reaching Bilit at around 1430hrs, settle into your accommodation. By 1530hrs, indulge in an afternoon tea accompanied by local snacks. Following a brief orientation by our knowledgeable nature guide, embark on an afternoon cruise at 1600hrs along the Kinabatangan River, which stretches an impressive 560km as Sabah's longest river. As evening sets in, enjoy a hearty dinner and settle in for an overnight stay at Bilit Adventure Lodge.
DAY 2
(Morning cruise/ Jungle walk/ Evening cruise/ Overnight bal)
Partake in an early river cruise at around 0600hrs. Following the one-hour boat excursion, return to lodge for a hearty breakfast. Later in the morning, embark on a guided nature walk through the jungle, fully immersing yourself in the lush riverine forest surroundings. Make your way back to the lodge to freshen up and enjoy a hearty lunch. Take a short break for a quick nap, followed by a delightful afternoon tea. By 1600hrs, get ready for another evening river cruise, this time exploring a distinct part of the river to observe a wider array of wildlife. Conclude the day with a delightful dinner and spend the second night at Bilit Adventure Lodge.
DAY 3
(Morning cruise/ Overland Sandakan/ NAtu
After breakfast by 0830 hrs, the day's journey commences with a departure from Bilit to Sandakan, where lunch will be provided enroute. In the afternoon, depart for Sandakan Nature City Tour which includes visit to Sandakan Memorial Park, followed by a trip to the Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, nestled atop a steep hill, offering a breathtaking panorama of Sandakan Bay and the Town Centre. Subsequently, proceed to St. Michael's Church, one of Sabah's oldest churches, showcasing a century-old structure that has been pivotal in propagating Christianity. Venturing onwards, a visit to the Central Market reveals a bustling scene of local produce and fresh seafood being traded. Another fascinating stop is the Agnes Keith Museum, a window into the colonial era through the lives of Agnes and Harry Keith.
The tour concludes with a visit to nearby English Tea House, offering yet another vantage point to marvel at the Sandakan Nature City. Here, you may indulge in your preferred refreshments (at your own account). After tour, departure transfer to Sandakan Airport or drop-off at hotel in Sandakan. Tour Ends.
